WARRIORS PROMOTIONS

PRESENT

A NIGHT OF KICKBOXING

AT

EVESHAM WORKING MENS CLUB,
SATURDAY 14TH OCTOBER 2006

The venue was Evesham working mans club in Evesham for the latest in a long line of kickboxing events that the USKA crew have visited this season. Pre matched in advance we had three fighters scheduled to appear on the small hall show. Qasim 'Terminator' Ali, Azad 'The Wrath Of' Khan and Tyler 'Steppin Razor. Unfortunately due to illness in the changing room Qasim Ali had to withdraw from his fight but on the plus side USKA golden boy Qasim 'The Dream' Nisar agreed to take a fight and give away 5kg in weight at short notice to help out the promoter when an original opponent failed to show. So with all the chopping and changing it was still 3 USKA fighters on the card as the crowd settled into what was looking at being a decent night of kickboxing action.

First into the ring for USKA and another last minute change of scheduled opponents was 15 year old Azad 'The Wrath of' Khan. Azad now would be giving away 7kg in weight and be facing the tough 16 year old Vinny Brown from Coventry Freestyle kickboxing club. Vinny with weight and age on Azad had also had previous full contact experience but as we know Azad is incredibly strong and skilled for his age and the feeling was he would know more than enough to negate Vinny's weight advantage and neutralise his work.
A charged crowd welcomed both fighters to the ring and referee Bob Taggart administered final instructions to both fighters as they both got ready to rumble. The bout would be set over three rounds of light continuous kickboxing.

Azad 'The Wrath Of' Khan (USKA) Vs Vinny Brown (Coventry Freestyle)

Round 1

Azad starts the first round by landing a perfect rear push kick straight into the face of a forward moving Vinny Brown. Azad has a habit of killing his opponents confidence early in bouts and if anything was going to do this it was going to be a push kick to the face.
Vinny was trying hard to close the gap between him and Azad and make his weight advantage felt but Azad's slick movement and skilful counter attacks were negating Vinny's efforts. Vinny coming forward in straight lines fell victim to another one of Azad's rear push kicks to the face this time lifting him up off his feet and sending him tumbling to the canvas.
A strong right hand from Azad lands against Vinny's chin which causes referee Bob Taggart to call both fighters together and warm them both about their level of control. In fairness it was Azad who was landing the hard shots with nearly all of Vinny's failing to find their target.
Azad sees out the end of the round picking off his man with nice centre line kicks followed by punch combinations and cutting the straight leg round kicks in of alternate sides.
The bell rings and it is one in the bank for the USKA fighter.

Round 2

The second round starts again with Vinny trying to close down Azad in an attempt to stop him using his dangerous legs. He is making the same mistake as he did in the first round of advancing in a straight lines and running onto the timed counter attack of Azad.
Vinny's face by now was starting to show wear and tear with his nose bleeding and reddening around his eyes.
Azad fires off a lead leg side kick to Vinny's chest which again drops the Coventry man to the canvas. Things at this point are looking pretty bleak for Vinny with Azad getting the better of the argument at every quarter.
Every mistake from Vinny is seems to get punished and countered by Azad and Vinny is having less and less success as the round goes on.
The face damage worsening from Vinny and now looking tired it looks like it is going to be a bit of an uphill battle for him as the round draws to a close.
Two in the bag for the USKA man and everything going very much to plan.

Round 3

Azad starts the round throwing a spin kick that narrowly falls short of it's target.
Vinny wants to keep this round at close quarter to stop Azad's variety of technique but he cannot pin the USKA man down as Azad moves well laterally around the ring leaving Vinny running into the ropes.
Vinny still trying hard but having little success and Azad exclusively picking Vinny off on the counter attack. It seems the more Vinny tries the more he is getting hit and his face has the scars of battle all over it. Nose bleeding and a welt underneath his left eye.
The action gets a little more rugged, moving into the last 30 seconds with fatigue setting in from both lads.
Azad well in front and happy just to see the round out working the counter.
The bell rings and both fighters embrace in appreciation of each others efforts.
No doubt about the decision on this one with all three rounds and a unanimous decision going to the one and only...... AZAD 'THE WRATH OF' KHAN.

With the crowd buzzing from the great show Azad had just put on it was now time for another of USKA's finest light continuous fighters 14 year old Tyler 'Steppin Razor' Shakespeare matched probably in his toughest task to date in the form of equally experienced Andrew Wainwright from the Cannock Kickboxing gym. These two have been touted to meet for some time now and judging by the stats on paper it was always going to be a tough one with victory not guaranteed for either side. This match was also over three rounds of light continuous kickboxing.
Tyler first into the ring to his usual reception from his USKA fans followed by a more subdued entrance by Cannock's Andrew Wainwright.
When both fighters were on an even surface of the ring canvas it was very apparent that Andrew Wainwright would have a considerable height and reach advantage over the USKA man who is no shorty himself.

Tyler 'Steppin Razor' Shakespeare (USKA) Vs Andrew Wainwright (Cannock Kickboxing)

Round 1

The first round begins with Tyler having to give up ground to Andrew's aggressive start.
This is not a position Tyler finds himself in often and it was going to be interesting to see how he would cope under this kind of pressure.
Although under alot of pressure Tyler was still doing well to find the gaps and get his own offence off along with finding the range to land the straight leg kicks to the body.
Andrew is pushing forward but up to this point has not landed any kicks onto Tyler.
The fast start seems to be taking a toll on Andrew and as daylight starts to appear between the two Tyler is finding it easier getting his shots off in combinations and looking good finishing with eye catching and more importantly point grabbing kicks to the body.
Tyler finishes the round better than he started it, going forward to what we think take it on the judges score cards.

Round 2

It is Tyler this round that tries to start strong and push his man back but Andrew is very physically strong for his weight and is not prepared to give up ground easily.
Much of the action is scrappy due to the clash of styles and eagerness of both fighters to impose themselves on the other.
The action is stopped and referee Taggart warns Andrew for a phantom elbow that no one seen land. The action resumes and now it is Tyler who has to face the warning from the referee for an unintentional borderline low round kick that catches Andrew just below the waistline on his trousers.
Andrew looks very tired and is given all the time he needs to recover from the low kick and also to catch his breath in the process.
Again the action resumes after the rest bite for both fighters.
Both fighters go back into the mix and none stop barrages of punches and kicks see out the round. This second round was going to be a tough one to call from the judges, would they go for the workrate, aggression, and forward fighting from Andrew or the cleaner work, kickrate and better technique of Tyler?
All to fight for in the last round Tyler was told to stay with his jab and chopping left hook to right leg straight leg kick believing it would be the kicking of Tyler that would make the difference in this the last round of the fight.

Round 3

Again Andrew is first to press but Tyler is ready this time and stands his ground. As the fight goes on Andrew seems tired and is not pushing Tyler back as he has done in the first two rounds. Tyler sticking to the game plan from the corner is landing good straight leg kicks to the body that we are sure are scoring well.
The action when they fall close is very scrappy but Tyler is clearly getting the better of the argument mid to long range by using the chopping technique of left hook to right leg straight leg that the USKA corner had instructed him to do.
Both fighters tired now with the battle taking it's toll. They get into a messy clinch and they both tangle and tumble to the canvas out of exhaustion.
The bell must have sounded like music to the ears of both Tyler and Andrew
to end the tough contest.
The feeling from the corner is that Tyler has done enough with his kicking but in a closely contested fight you can never truly second guess the judges.
Thankfully the judges saw it the same way we did and marginally scoring all three rounds and a unanimous decision to...... TYLER 'THE STEPPIN RAZOR' SHAKESPEARE.

Two out of two for the USKA crew and we once again found ourselves in the position of possibly being able to walk away with a potential hatrick of victories.
Time now for Qasim 'The Dream' Nisar to see if he could also negate the 5 kg weight advantage and 5 year age advantage of house fighter Lee Jackson from Evesham U.K.C.B.A .
Qasim who had turned up in the capacity of a cornerman was now on he other side of the ropes all gloved up and very much ready to get down to business.
Qasim first to the ring to the appreciation of the USKA crowd who welcomed the surprise extra value addition to the card. Second out to an even bigger reception was local man Lee Jackson. The crowd however would not be in there throwing punches once the first bell rang and for this reason Qasim was not fazed in the slightest.

Qasim 'The Dream' Nisar (USKA) Vs Lee Jackson (U.K.C.B.A. Evesham)

Round 1

An aggressive Lee Jackson rushes Qasim from the opening bell trying to stamp his authority on the bout. Qasim has faced this initial pressure before many times and professionally covers up with a sound high defence and moves into position of centre ring giving himself space. Qasim at this point starts to land single shots sharp shooting and hitting Lee from all angles. Lee is struggling to deal with Qasim's technique and he is looking disorganised.
Backing Lee up to the ropes Qasim lands a hurtful long right hook to the body that momentarily dips the knees of Lee.
Sensing his mans distress Qasim piles on the pressure landing a barrage of alternate hooks and uppercuts to the body.
Under heavy fire Lee tries to get out of the firing line by moving to his left on the ropes only to be intercepted by a hard shin straight leg that bounces off the top of Lee's head and instantly opens up a gash that starts to gush blood. Lee then tries to move to his right to get out of trouble this time to be hit and dropped by a hard left hook to the jaw.
Lee hits the floor hard and looks to be out. The referee jumps in straight away and administers a count to the downed fighter.
Seeing that Lee had no chance of beating the count and assessing that the cut on his head was too severe to let the fight continue anyway he waves the action off.
The winner by TKO victory 59 seconds into round 1 and still undefeated......
QASIM 'THE DREAM' NISAR!

So an early finish from The Dream leaves the score at 3-0 to the USKA boys.
A good night of kickboxing action and once again we left feeling that we had made our mark.
Well done to all three of you for your efforts and also big up to the USKA loyal band of supporters who never fail to deliver on the cheering front.
Finally a big thank you to event organisers Steve and Annie Humphries for having us.
