W.K.A PREMIER LEAGUE,MANCHESTER 22-05-05
On Sunday 22nd May 2005 Qasim 'The Dream' Nisar and Tommy 'Gun' Collett
were
invited once again to take part in a WKA Premier League Tournament
in
Manchester. The tournament was held at the George Carnell sports and
leisure centre and
in charge of the U.S.K.A double was Sean Quinn in the capacity of
chief corner man.
As this was their second visit to this type of tournaments competition,
the boys were more familiar with the mat-fighting rules and were looking
forward to do battle.
They had made adjustments in their training since their last outing
working on the forward pressure to take the judges eye and the referee's
decision.
After three hours of waiting Qasim and Tommy were then called up at
the same time.
They both got of to a great start by winning their first fights, which
they won due to their better kicking and sustained pressure.
Qasim then won his second fight and in doing so captured the gold
medal.
Tommy controversially lost his second fight even though he landed
the cleaner work and more kicks. All the same he was awarded the silver
medal for his efforts.
Altogether it was a successful day out for the U.S.K.A crew of two.
Wins on this circuit will put them both in good stead for the W.K.A
world championships in Canada in November.
A big thank you to Sean Quinn who gave up his day and also Mr Bob
Taggart who cornered
Qasim for both of his fights because Sean was busy cornering Tommy.
