Tommy and Qasim Qualify for W.K.A World Championships

Sunday The 13th Feb 2005 Saw two of U.S.K.A's most experienced Jnrs Take to the road in search of World Title Qualification. The Tournament in question was The W.K.A. World Championship Qualifiers Held at the George Carnell Leisure Centre in Manchester. and in charge of U.S.K.A coaching for the day was Sean Quinn. Assistant jnr coach.
The format being Mat fighting, was new to both U.S.K.A fighters however for world Championships this is the most used format so it was something they would have to accustom themselves with, QuickTime. Neither the early start, or the change of fighting environment phased the pair as both fighters managed to battle their way through qualifying rounds in their respective weight categories to win through on the day, and in doing so both are now selected to represent Great Britain at the finals in Niagara Falls Canada, in November. Coach Sean Quinn say's of the lads "They came here to do a job and achieve a goal, and they both delivered on the day like the true up and coming pro's they show themselves to be. It was a great result with Tommy and Qasim performing as we all know they can. It was another great day at the office for U.S.K.A'." The finals event held over 9 days starting on the 4th Nov will see U.S.K.A's Tommy Collett and Qasim Nisar compete against the best in the world, in one of the most prestigious martial arts contest on the calendar, and they carry the hopes and best wishes of everyone connected with the gym. Not a bad start for the gym, with two out of two qualifying against tough opposition and on there very first foray into light continuous mat fighting to boot.
The days results were as follows
Tommy Collett silver light continuous / bronze semi contact 69 / 71 kg Boys 13 to 18 yrs
Qasim Nisar. Bronze light continuous 60 - 63 kgs 13 to 18 yrs
