As former pupil of the Gunter Road Primary school in
Erdington one of U.S.K.A's up and coming young stars Tyler Shakespeare
was asked if he would put on a demonstration of his kickboxing ability
at the Garden Fete and fun day to celebrate the schools 75th Anniversary.
Head master Mathew Poiser's request was obviously met with acceptance
with Tyler being keen to repay the school for it's continued support
with regard to his fledgling kickboxing career. So along with Chief
instructor Neil Kelly and two other of U.S.K.A.'s finest young fighters
Tommy Collett and Qasim Nisar the small and select team set about choreographing
a short but spectacular display of their many talents.
Blessed with an absolutely beautiful summers day a quite sizable crowd
gathered to see the U.S.K.A. team entertain them with their dynamic
and well rehearsed routine. After the initial introduction of the coach
and his fighters U.S.K.A. squad members Tyler, Tommy, and Qasim gave
a breathtaking display of kickboxing highlighting the drills and routines
they practice relentlessly which go to make them the extra special talents
they all are. Beginning with Tyler demonstrating the flexibility stretching
drills he is well known for, the team then progressed to set sequenced
patterns portrayed by Messer's Collett and Nisar. The kickpad drills
were to follow along with shadow sparring and pad work with chief instructor
Neil. Highlight for many was the sparring bouts which finished the show
with all three of the fighters sparring each other in true flamboyant
U.S.K.A.. style. Such demonstrations allow a window of opportunity for
the general public to see just what the U.S.K.A students have to do
to become such accomplished fighters, and as a community conscious club
the demonstration team, which is developing within the club are always
happy to help at such events.
Any interested parties should contact Chief Instructor Neil for news
of further availability of the team.
