On the 21st May 2006 USKA fighters Qasim Nisar, Reiss Larvin and Mark Sedgwick travelled down to Manchester to once again fight outside the box and their chosen arena of the ring in the WKA premiere league competition.

Mark Sedgwick Fight 1

First on the mats was Mark Sedgwick. Mark lands a flush round kick to his opponents head and then drops him with a side kick to the body. The killer kicker is now landing all his techniques with ease. A beautiful combination of lead axe kick, rear round kick lands to the head of his opponent as Marks confidence grows and he flies through his arsenal of kicking technique.
A beautiful spin kick lands followed by a side kick to the face. The fight is stopped and Mark is awarded the decision.

Mark Sedgwick Fight 2 (Quarter finals)

Mark is up against a fighter from the same camp as his first opponent.
Mark pushes forward from the opening bell but neither fighter is landing clearly. A lead axe kick from Mark pushes his opponent off the mats.
Both fighters are brought to the centre. A beautiful jump turning side kick from Mark sends his man to the mat and Mark is breaking away.
Mark finishes the round strong by dropping his opponent with a spin kick and sails through to the semi finals.

Mark Sedgwick Fight 3 (Semi finals)

Both fighters are standing off and Mark is told by cornerman Qasim to be move first and fire first. Mark presses the action and now starts to find success with his techniques. A beautiful spin kick lands from the killer kicker followed by a combination of straight punches and finishing with an accurate rear round kick to the head. Mark finishes the round on top and is declared the winner.

Mark Sedgwick Fight 4 (Final)

Both fighters go toe to toe with their punches but Mark is catching the judges eye as he is finishing his punch combo with his kicks. Mark lands aa eye catching double rear round kick using the floor for momentum on the bounce.
Mark is instructed to hit and move from his corner and the tactic is working to great effect. Mark finishes the round with a bang by landing straight punches and three head round kicks to put the decision beyond any doubt.
Mark is declared the competition winner and is awarded the WKA gold medal to add to his already impressive trophy collection.

Qasim Nisar Fight 1

Next up is Qasim Nisar in the +54kg category that has fighters in it almost 40kg over that limit. This is another example of crazy mat categories that can't possibly be deemed as fair.
Qasim was matched against one of the WKA World championship squad who competes usually in a much higher weight category than Qasim.
From the opening bell Qasim did not look himself and coupled with the fact that his opponent was a bit of a spoiler it was turning into a very scrappy fight.
The fight goes into a toe to toe exchange and Qasim seems to be getting the better of the trade off.
Qasim's legs don't seem to be in gear but he is still managing to land his trade mark right leg straight leg to the body.
To negate the weight advantage of his opponent Qasim tries to use hit and move tactics but is shipping alot of his opponents shots on his arms as he tries to land his counters.
A scrappy fight draws to a close and the decision is awarded to his opponent on what must have been for his forward fighting style.
Bad day at the office for the dream but another learning curve on the mats nevertheless.

Reiss Larvin Fight 1

The final USKA fighter in the competition was Reiss Larvin who at 14 years of age not only was facing people in his category up to three years older but 25kg heavier than him aswell. Absolute madness!
Reiss luckily for him in his first fight was up against an opponent slightly lighter than himself and Reiss was keep to press home his weight advantage.
Reiss lands a clean jab to rear uppercut in exchanges of punching flurries.
Reiss is first to break the kick drought landing a lead leg side kick that sends his opponent flying off the mats. Seeing that his man wasn't keen on taking kicks Reiss fired off a right hand to left leg body straight leg and lead hook to rear leg straight leg and punctuated his combo with a dirty spin kick that drops his opponent to the mat.
Reiss is now in total control and hurts his opponent again with a rear straight leg to the body followed by a lead hook which drops him again.
The bell rings to end the fight and Reiss hand is raised as the winner.

Reiss Larvin Fight 2

Reiss in his second encounter was up against a much heavier opponent who had age, height, weight and longer reach over him. The fight is going back and forth as both fighters are only landing the odd clean shot in the scrappy exchanges.
Reiss gets pushed off the mats by the heavier man but fires back strong to push the heavier man back in true relentless style.
Reiss is finding success with his lead body straight leg but it might be a little too little too late to impress the mats judges.
The final bell sounds and it is a close decision for the judges.
After deliberation it goes against Reiss and his days tournament is over.

Once again the USKA fighters show they are not afraid to step out of the comfort zone of their chosen kickboxing ring and compete to someone else's rules.
It's all about experience and that is something these guys are picking up by the bucket load every time they fight away from home.
Well done to all three for once again flying the USKA flag on the road.
