| Sat 8th of July saw U.S.K.A. newly converted full contact
prospect Qasim Nisar take to the ring at the Light Bar Night Club in Wolverhampton,
a show Co-hosted By Both Eclipse Kickboxing and The Trojan Gym of Wolverhampton.
The well attended show headed by Reece Crooke in a rearranged bout with
John Dick Of Glasgow, had U.S.K.A. favourite Qasim matched against Jonathon
“Bully” Morris from the Black Country Combat club. Information
on Jonathan was fresh as the U.S.K.A team had seen him in action recently
and was well aware he could prove a danger. However with Qasim’s
ever present relaxed approach the U.S.K.A team had reason to be confident,
with the young fighter coming off the back of a very impressive first
outing and K.O in his debut back in May. The team greatly depleted on
the night through injury and the impending holiday meant it was all down
to Qasim to fly the U.S.K.A colours. A tall order for one so young but
Qasim show’s maturity beyond his years and visibly enjoys all aspects
of both the training and the actual competitive side to the sport. With
the usual loyal support and a fighter in rampant mood the prospects looked
good for a intriguing fight. Qasim was announced first to the ring and
he confidently made his way to the red corner closely followed by USKA
corner men Neil Kelly, Allan McDonald and Sean Quinn. Jonathan 'BULLY'
Morris took his place in the opposite blue corner and the first thing
that was apparent of the two as they squared up at ring centre was Qasim's
height and what looked like reach advantage. Although weighing in roughly
about the same weight Qasim seemed to tower above Bully as both fighters
took part in the customary stare down. After listening to Referee Cecil
Rose's final instructions the fighters returned to their respective corners
to await the sound of the bell to start round 1.
ROUND 1 Small he was but shy he was not. bully Morris came out swinging with the hands and although not landing anything of note put Qasim in a defensive posture and pushed him back. Both fighters seemed a little over eager to land and as a result their work was rushed and a little scrappy. Mid way through the round the initial frenetic pace dropped and with this more controlled technique in place Qasim started to press forward and land the cleaner balanced shots. A long right hand caught Bully behind the ear toppling him to the floor. Getting up on shaky legs the referee took a close look but allowed the fight to continue. Qasim now knowing what he had to do to be most effective continued to press forward but was careful not to smother his own work keeping the fight at mid range. Bully seemed as if he was still trying to clear his head as he circled the ropes attempting to stay out of trouble. A welcome first bell sounded to give him a much needed rest bite and both fighters returned to their corners. ROUND 2 Qasim nothing if not an intelligent fighter did not make the same mistake in the second that he had made in the first and now measured his man with technique stalking him back. Again a big long right hand knocked Bully's head to one side. Seeing him troubled, Qasim then landed a hard right round kick to the body that seemed to dip Bully's legs and then followed up with a right, left, right punch combination that sent Bully crashing first against the ropes and then inevitably against the canvas. At this point it seemed all over bar the cheering but to Bully's credit he beat the count and signalled to the Ref that he wanted to continue. Qasim seeing his opponents distress was in no mood to let his man off the hook. A lead side kick from a southpaw stance followed by a lead hook, straight right hand sent his man down for a third and final time. Simultaneously the towel was thrown in for the Black Country Combat corner as Cecil Rose waved off and called a halt to the contest. At 44 seconds into round 2, the winner is declared by TKO victory Qasim 'THE DREAM' Nisar This result further adds credence to the fact that in this exciting young fighter is a real champion in the making, one that has natural talent aided with the intelligence and ability to quickly adapt to each fight. Anyone watching Qasim train or fight will be aware he also has terrific stamina levels and a style that entertains. His record all be it short thus far stands at, two fights, two wins, two KO’s, does it get any better than that.
