THE U.S.K.A KICKBOXING ACADEMYThe U.S.K.A Kickboxing Academy is a well established and respected full time martial arts gymnasium with everything you could need to aid your kickboxing development. The Academy boasts a fully foam matted training area, mirrored walls, punch/kick bag area, full sized boxing ring, stretching machine, sauna & shower area and a separate on site 10,000 sq. ft weights and cardio gymnasium. Our qualified team of professional instructors have years of experience and expertise to cater for every individuals training needs whether it be self defence, fitness, weight loss, confidence building, personal achievement or competitive kickboxing training. With violence on the increase in today's society can you afford not to learn to protect yourself and your family. Kickboxing is a modern, effective form of self defence. It is also excellent for building confidence, character and discipline in children and adults alike. U.S.K.A is recognised and affiliated to the R.C.S.U (Ring Combat Sports Union) SOME FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND WHAT TO DO NOW HOW FIT AND DO I HAVE TO BE TO PARTICIPATE IN A KICKBOXING CLASS? The beginners classes are suitable for anybody's fitness and flexibility level. In time and with consistent regular training your fitness and flexibility level will improve and as a result you will be encouraged to work a little bit harder to gain maximum benefit from your sessions. Until this time everybody is encouraged to work at their own comfortable pace. WHAT AGES DO YOU TEACH ON YOUR KICKBOXING CLASSES? The beginners classes are aimed at 6 year olds and above although on occasion we will accept a 5 year old if he/she is an accelerated learner. You are never to old to start an activity like kickboxing, each and every person can set their own goals and ambitions and our instructors will work with you in achieving these. For our younger prospective students (4-6 year olds) we encourage them to start off in our Little Ninja's introductory class which acts as a stepping stone to the beginners classes. These classes incorporate interactive, basic co-ordination and confidence building skills along with basic kickboxing and self defence technique and discipline in a fun and friendly environment. DO I HAVE TO FIGHT? No one will be forced to fight. If you do choose to participate in sparring at the academy it will all be done under strict supervision and all participants must wear full safety equipment to take part. IF I CHOOSE TO COMPETE CAN I? Yes, being carefully matched with people of the same age, weight and experience a student can take part in first light continuous and when ready amateur and professional full contact. U.S.K.A academy has many champions with many competing right up to world level. WHEN AND WHERE ARE YOUR KICKBOXING CLASSES HELD? Members session fee's are £4.00 and Non members session fee's are £5.00. Children's Joining fee including kickboxing suit and first years gym membership is £45.00 Adults Joining fee including kickboxing suit and first years gym membership is £50.00 WHAT NOW? HOW DO I GET STARTED? Basically just turn up and give it a try! You can train with us for up to a month as a non member before deciding if you wish to join or not. Ensure to arrive at least ten minutes before the class starting time if possible. Make sure to wear some loose fitting clothing that will not restrict your movement in any way, we train in bare feet so footwear is not a problem. Please take the time to read the U.S.K.A code of conduct below before attending and i hope to see you training with us in the near future U.S.K.A CODE OF CONDUCT When agreeing to participate in an U.S.K.A class you will be learning a highly effective method of self defence that must only be used when absolutely necessary and then only with the minimum force requires to subdue the attacker or stop him or them. You must never use your skill to bully either verbally or physically or enforce your will on others. In the training hall you must never engage in idle chatter, fool about, smoke, drink or chew gum or sweets. Never enter the training hall after having consumed alcohol. Always wear the correct club uniform, ensure that your uniform and person, particularly feet are clean. Long hair must be tied back, finger and toe nails must be short and clean. Do not wear watches or jewellery (plain wedding ring excepted). When training, care must always be taken at all times to avoid accidents, you must respect your training partners. Please report to your instructor any illness or injury which may affect your training before the start of the session. Remember that self control is one of our most important rules and it's loss is obvious to all. Loss of self control can mean loss of membership to the U.S.K.A and to our licensing body the R.C.S.U.
