WARRIORS FIGHT NIGHT KICKBOXING PROMOTIONS
PROUDLY PRESENT
TIME FOR ACTION - ROUND 4
AT THE GREEN BANK LEISURE CENTRE, SWADLINCOTE,
DERBYSHIRE
SATURDAY 9th FEBRUARY 2008
A late call for two USKA
fighters led to a unscheduled trip to Green Bank Leisure Centre
in Swadlincote Derbyshire for Ridwan Khan and Noor Muhammed
to fight on the Warriors Fight Night round 4 show on Saturday
9th February.
After pull outs and injuries to original opponents promoter
Craig Harrison called USKA coach Neil Kelly the Wednesday before
to see if he could help with the weights.
After checking with the USKA boys who have a policy of always
being ready and have gumshield will travel the fights were confirmed
and the two lads alongside a small contingent of USKA support
made the short trip down the motorway ready for action.
On arrival we found out that Noor would be matched against the
extremely talented Curtis Jones a former BLCC British title
contender from TKA gym in Tamworth. Curtis would also enjoy
a healthy age and weight advantage over Noor so it was looking
at a massive step up in class.
Ridwan was matched with Black Cobra gym's Kieran Lomax from
Stoke. Ridwan had been victorious over Kieran twice in the past
before in close contests so he knew what he was up against in
this bout and was confident of completing a trilogy of victories
against his man.
Ridwan was first and made his way through the intimidating and
packed crowd to the ring.
Seeing both fighters squared up to each other it was clear that
they were both the same body type and it looked like a dead
even match. The first round saw Ridwan and Kieran trade of technique
with Ridwan the aggressor and Kieran moving well around the
outskirts of the ring. Kieran opting to flurry punches with
Ridwan mixing his hands and legs together that little bit better
to end a very close first round.
The second and third round saw Ridwan settle down and out kick
his man looking the fresher of the two at the finish. An excellent
fight that the USKA team in the corner felt that they had won
two rounds to one even.
The referee announces the decision and as hoped for and expected
Ridwan's hand is raised in victory.
A very sporting Kieran acknowledges Ridwan's win and the crowd
applaud two very talented young fighters.
Second up for USKA sees Noor
Muhammed into the ring with a very tough task in taking on TKA
kickboxings Curtis Jones. Curtis is a known talent on the kickboxing
light contact circuit and Noor would have to be at his very
best to make the fight competitive let alone force a win.
Noor looked very apprehensive at the thought of the task at
hand and looked somewhat psyched out on his way to ring. A negative
Noor fought to survive rather than win over the three rounds
never committing or opening up against the fast sharp Curtis.
Curtis never felt threatened for one moment in the three rounds
and as a result looked relaxed and able to do his thing.
The decision a unanimous one for Curtis leaving Noor to return
once again to the drawing board to work on his mental and physical
game. Loses like this can be constructive as long as the loser
learns from their mistakes. Noor's mistake is often to get complacent
in his training and not take it seriously enough. This mistake
cost him dearly tonight being totally shut out in a fight that
he could have turned out a much better performance in.
A big thank you to Craig and his team for
the invite and his hospitality down at 'Time for action Round
4', We look forward to our invite for Round 5 next time out.
